Merry Christmas and a Hoppy New Year!

Happy new year! It's been an eventful year and season. We moved the rabbitry out of the house and into the little barn built in our backyard right before Christmas. I like to call it The Berry Barn. I'm currently working on painting a sign to hang up front. It's nice having my own little building specifically for the bunnies after all this time!

Getting everything done is taking a minute, we still haven't put the dry wall in, but so far, it's been insulated, and some lights and a heater were installed. The bunnies have been staying out there, comfortable and cozy!! I'm very happy about the way things are going.

Antionette had a litter of five around Halloween. Her daughter Holly, now breeding age, also had her first litter of six, and I was so impressed! She was such a good Mom. All of the babies in both litters survived and are growing up so cute and sweet!

While Antionette and Holly don't have the best ears, we've bred them to bucks who have strong ears, and the baby's ears in both litters seemed to lop very nicely and look very good. Holly's babies were an array of colors, Black, Blue, Chocolate, and Lilac.

Antionette had one broken black, two black and two blue. We ended up keeping this little black doe, who was incredibly sweet and friendly like the rest of them. All of Antionette's babies from previous litters have been this way, and Holly's for the most part seem to have inherited a really docile and sweet temperament too. The little chocolate buck who she had, who we call Rumple, is so calm, sweet and unafraid that I was surprised. I've never had a rabbit so consistently calm.

Six bunnies went to very good homes on Christmas Eve! I was so glad to see them all go to such responsible families. They all followed up with me to let me know how the bunnies were doing, which I really appreciate, and they don't hesitate to reach out with any questions they may have, which is always a good opportunity to keep talking about rabbits!

Every once in a while, I'll get to see a bunny that came out of our rabbitry. We do bunny nail trimming and are willing to bunny sit. Because of this, we'll get to see some of Holly's litter again in June. That will be such a treat!

The weather has been crazy! I shovel a path out to the rabbitry just to shovel my way back, but the bunnies are tucked up inside, snug as a bug in a rug.

We currently have two little black bunnies available from Holly's litter. They are ready to go home anytime. One is a buck, and one is a doe. They are both true dwarves. Our little buck is very sweet and would make a great addition to any family. Our little doe has a lot of spunk. She was Holly's only doe of the litter, and also the only bunny who came with an attitude. She has a big personality!
